Carribber Beech is a cottage near Whitecross in West Lothian. It's one of a terrace of three, in the grounds of the main house. You get your own private patio area. The view from the front is over Carribber Loch and the woods, which is the main thing.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's quite handy. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The living area is open plan on the ground floor, with doors out to the patio. The entrance and the main living space are all on one level, which is good if steps are a problem.
You're right by the lochs. The owner runs a trout fishery here, so you can see people fishing. There are walks straight from the door around the grounds and the water.
For shops, a pub, or a restaurant, you need to go into Linlithgow. That's about three miles. It's a nice town with the palace ruins right by the loch. The beach is a fair bit further away, about seventeen miles.
The train into Edinburgh is easy from Linlithgow station. It takes about twenty-five minutes. Stirling and Glasgow are also straightforward to get to by car. Loch Lomond is under an hour's drive.
Locally, there's a lot of history. Linlithgow Palace is close. Hopetoun House and The House of the Binns are nearby too. For something more modern, The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel are about a twenty-minute drive. They're impressive to see.
Facilities: it has the things you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.
