The Boathouse

The Boathouse is in Polmont, Stirlingshire. It’s part of a set of modern holiday cabins built in the old walled garden of Kinneil House. You’re right in the middle of the central belt here, so it’s handy for getting about.

It sleeps four. There’s a bedroom downstairs and a loft bedroom upstairs, which you get to by a spiral staircase. That one’s quite spacious, but mind your head on the way up. There’s one bathroom.

It’s got a 4 Star rating. The kitchen area inside has basic cooking facilities. For anything more involved, there’s a shared kitchen block on the site that everyone can use. That has proper ovens and hobs.

Outside, it’s next to a little pond. There’s a patio area with a BBQ. The whole walled garden is yours to walk around. It’s quiet. You’ll see rabbits and birds.

Location wise, it’s a five-minute walk to a supermarket, a couple of pubs, and some takeaways. For a proper walk, you’re two minutes from woods along the Antonine Wall. Falkirk is just outside town, with the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.

Edinburgh and Glasgow city centres are about half an hour’s drive. Edinburgh Airport is fifteen minutes away. If you want to get into the hills, the edge of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is under forty minutes by car.

Facilities include parking, WiFi, a TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are provided. It’s wheelchair accessible at the entrance and has a walk-in shower. You can bring up to two dogs.
