An T-Iolaire is our house on the shore of Loch Long, near Dornie. We built it on the family croft. It's detached and quiet, but only a minute from the main road to Skye.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath upstairs and a walk-in shower downstairs. The downstairs bedroom can be set up as a twin or a super king. Everything has a view of the loch. The living space is open-plan with high ceilings and big windows.
The heating is underfloor and runs on an air-source heat pump, so it's cosy and the running costs are lower. There's an electric car charger if you need it.
You'll see a lot of wildlife. We've seen otters, herons, and eagles from the windows. We leave binoculars for you. The tides here are big, so the view changes all day.
Inside, there's a smart TV, wifi, a Nespresso machine, and a good selection of books. The kitchen has what you need for cooking and baking. There's a welcome pack with some local bits when you arrive.
There's a pub with food and live music about five minutes' walk away. Eilean Donan Castle is a five minute drive. A local bakery and gin maker is about fifteen minutes on foot. The bridge to the Isle of Skye is about twenty minutes by car.
For other things to do, you're well placed for walking, climbing, or fishing. The National Trust for Scotland and Walkhighlands sites are useful for planning. There are also many artists and makers with open studios in the area.
Facilities: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, bedding and towels are included, and there's parking on site. No pets, I'm afraid.
