Ratagan Lodge

I own Ratagan Lodge. It's in Ratagan, Highlands, overlooking Loch Duich. The mountains behind it are called the Five Sisters of Kintail.

The lodge sleeps six. It has two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom downstairs. There's also a small snug room with a sofa bed. The bedrooms are a decent size. One has twin beds that can be pushed together to make a super king if you ask beforehand. It's a 4 Star, so it's well-equipped.

The main thing is the view. The front deck looks straight out over the loch and the mountains. It's sheltered, so you can sit out there even if it's a bit breezy. You can't really beat it for your morning coffee.

Downstairs is open plan: kitchen, dining area, and living room with a wood burner. We get the wood in for you. The stairs are fine, standard.

It's very quiet here. Ratagan is just a handful of houses. You're right on the loch side. For shops and pubs, you'd drive to Shiel Bridge, which is a couple of minutes away, or Glenelg, which is about ten minutes. Kyle of Lochalsh has bigger supermarkets, about a 25-minute drive.

You're in a good spot for seeing things. Eilean Donan Castle is maybe 15 minutes drive. Plockton, with its palm trees, is about half an hour. The bridge to the Isle of Skye is 40 minutes away, so you can easily go over for the day. Applecross is a spectacular drive, but it's over an hour because of the pass.

If you like walking, you're spoilt for choice. The National Records of Scotland sites for local history are useful, and Walkhighlands is good for route planning.

Facilities: it's got pretty much everything. Parking, WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, wood burner, cot, highchair, stairgate. There's an electric vehicle charging point. No pets, sorry.
