Blaenau Ffestiniog is a historic mining town, best known for being the slate capital of the world, having recently been awarded the acclaimed UNESCO status. The area is a Mecca for any outdoor enthusiasts, with bike trails, climbing, kayaking and walking routes in abundance. Only a few minutes away is Llechwedd slate caverns/Zip World; a great day out for the kids and adults alike.
You’re only a short drive from Betws Y Coed, known as the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. Also, within easy reach is Porthmadog; home to the Welsh Highland Railway and the famous Black Rock Sands, and Harlech is also only a short drive away - also a UNESCO site, with its imposing castle and simply stunning beaches it’s well worth a visit.
