Ty Llew
Set in the heart of Dolgellau Ty Llew is the perfect spot to slow down the pace and relax whilst enjoying all the amenities of this pretty little town in Snowdonia. Just a few steps away you can spend time walking around Dolgellau’s narrow streets and squares, spotting signs of its past. Fancy houses to the south, winch-hoods high on the town buildings and the ruins of the old ‘Pandy’ fulling mills scattered along the Afon Aran are all remnants of its successful woollen industry. There is a variety of lovely independents shops, cafés and restaurants to explore too.
Ty Llew is an apartment set over two floors, offering three bedrooms for up to six guests. The interior has been decorated in relaxing tones showcasing various unique features of the Grade II listed building on the staircase and some of the doors. The kitchen space has a clean, modern feel to it with a range of appliances and utensils plus a breakfast area. The dining and living room offer an electric fire and comfy sofas where you can put your feet up and get stuck into a good book for a cosy evening in or enjoy each other’s company and talk about the day’s adventures. The three bedrooms are on the second floor all with double beds and offering views of Dolgellau. There is a full-size bathroom with a bathtub and shower, plus the master double has an en-suite. Conveniently, Ty Llew comes with one parking permit for the nearby public car park for your stay.
If you can tear yourself away, many of the prettiest walks are only a few minutes’ drive away including Torrent Walk & Precipice Walk, both popular since Victorian and Edwardian Times. Another very popular walk and bike trail starts by the town car park and runs 9 miles along the old railway track bed to Barmouth on the coast. This is The Mawddach Trail . If hurtling down hills on two wheels is your thing, then Dolgellau is the nearest town to Coed y Brenin Mountain Bike Centre and further north you have the rugged slate tracks of Antur Stiniog in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Head to the coast, have a stroll on the lovely sandy beach and walk along the half-mile long bridge at Barmouth, only nine miles away from Ty Llew. Beach 9 miles.
