Dalnaglar Castle

Dalnaglar Castle is in Blacklunans, Perthshire. It's a proper castle, sleeps twenty. Ten bedrooms, nine bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating.

The estate is about a mile and a half from the main road, up a private track. It was built in the 1700s as a hunting lodge. It sits on its own quite high up, so the views are good. You can see the Cairngorms.

The house itself is big and comfortable. There's a grand drawing room, a dining room that looks over the gardens, and a library with books in it. The bedrooms are spacious. It works well for a large family or a group of friends.

You have the run of about 3000 acres. There are lawns, a pond, and your own private loch that's stocked for fishing. Some of Scotland's best walks go right through the estate. You can see deer.

On the practical side: it's detached, obviously. There's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and woodburning stoves. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair.

The nearest shop and pub are in Kirkmichael, about nine miles away. They do food. For skiing, the Glenshee Ski Centre is about a twenty-minute drive. If you're a walker, the Cateran Trail and a lot of Munros are close by. For fishing, stalking, or clay shooting, you need to arrange that in advance through the estate. There's also local horse riding.

Further out, you've got over a hundred golf courses within reach. Dundee, Perth, and Edinburgh are all within an hour and a half for a day trip.
