The Wee Cabin
The Wee Cabin is a small, detached cabin just outside Kirkmichael, on our sheep farm. It's for two people. The view from the front is good, straight out over fields to the hills.
The cabin has one bedroom and a shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-fitted and comfortable. Everything is open plan, so the living space, kitchen and bed area are all in one room. It's compact, but it works. There's underfloor heating, so it's cosy.
You're on a working farm with sheep and some horses in the fields. We see a lot of wildlife: red squirrels, deer, all sorts of birds. If you're lucky you might see them from the window.
The village is a short walk, maybe ten minutes. There's a decent shop and a café. The local pub does food and is about a quarter of a mile away.
For walking, you're right on the edge of it. There are waymarked paths starting from the village itself, and it's part of the longer Cateran Trail. Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are both about a 20-minute drive. Pitlochry has the theatre and the fish ladder. In autumn, the Enchanted Forest light show at Faskally is a big draw.
The Cairngorms National Park is about a 40-minute drive north if you want proper mountains. For a closer hill drive, Glenshee is 15 minutes away.
Facilities: There's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and parking right outside. All bedding and towels are included. It's a no pets property.
