North Farm Lodge is on Mersea Island, just outside East Mersea village. It's a detached single-storey lodge, so it’s all on one level. It’s at the end of a track, so it’s quiet. You get your own bit of garden with a patio.
It’s done up to a 5 Star standard. It’s modern inside, open plan with high ceilings. Two bedrooms, both with their own ensuite shower room. Sleeps four.
You get a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right outside. No pets.
You are on an island. To get here you drive over The Strood, which is a causeway. It floods at high tide, so you do need to check the tide times before you arrive or plan a trip out.
The coastline is about a ten-minute walk. The beaches are quiet, mostly sand and shingle. You can walk for miles from the door. The Mersea Oyster Fishery is nearby if you like seafood.
The nearest pub is in East Mersea village, about a mile and a half away. There’s a farm shop closer for basics. For a big supermarket, you’d go to Colchester.
Colchester is about nine miles off the island. It has the castle and zoo. For a day out, you can drive into Dedham Vale, which is Constable country, in under half an hour. The National Trust has information on that area.
It’s a good spot for walking, cycling, or birdwatching. If you just want to sit in the lodge and look at the fields, that works too.
