Bakery Cottage

Bakery Cottage is in Ampney Crucis, just outside Cirencester. It's attached to our house, but you have your own front door and garden.

It's a 4 Star place, sleeps three. There's one bedroom, which has a double bed and a single bed in it, and one bathroom. It's clean and comfortable. It used to be a bakery, so the ceilings are high and beamed. That's nice, but it means the bedroom is up a ladder. It's a proper, fixed ladder, not a rickety thing, but it's still a ladder. Please bear that in mind. The doors are quite low too.

Your garden looks out onto the village cricket pitch and there are fields and sheep behind. On a nice evening, it's quiet. The village pub is about a two minute walk away, on the green. They do food. There's a shop a couple of miles away in Cirencester.

Cirencester is about two miles. It was a Roman town, so they've got the Corinium Museum. Most people go for the shops and the market.

You can get to Cotswold Water Park in about fifteen minutes by car. It's a lot of lakes, good for walking or watersports. Cheltenham's about half an hour. Oxford, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Lechlade are all within forty minutes.

Facilities are decent. You get bedding and towels. There's WiFi, a washing machine, a cot if you need it, and the garden. Parking is right outside.

We take one well-behaved dog. The fields and walks around here are good for them.

A couple of useful links: Cotswold District Council has local walking maps. English Heritage list the main sites, or National Trust Cotswolds.
