Ty Clyd

This is Ty Clyd, up in Treuddyn. It’s Flintshire, so sort of tucked into the corner of North Wales near the English border. It’s a detached cottage, so you’re on your own. It’s for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom.

It’s been done up recently. It’s a four-star place, which means it’s modern and comfortable inside. Everything’s open plan downstairs. The windows are big, so it’s light. There’s a little reading nook off the main room with a chair and some books.

You can bring two dogs. There’s an outdoor tap which is handy for washing muddy paws or boots. The garden is yours, there’s a patio and a BBQ.

The location is good for walking. You’re right next to the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley. Moel Famau is the big hill everyone goes up. The views from the top are excellent, you can see Snowdonia on a clear day. Offa’s Dyke path runs through here too.

Mold is the nearest proper town, about ten minutes away. They’ve got Theatr Clwyd there. Nercwys Forest and Loggerheads are good for local walks. There are a couple of old castles nearby, Caergwrle and Ewloe, if you like that sort of thing.

You can get to the North Wales coast in maybe half an hour. Chester is about the same drive the other way, over the border. It’s got the Roman walls and shops.

Inside, it’s got the normal things: TV, wifi, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.

For planning walks and trips, the Visit Wales site is useful, and the National Trust has places nearby.
