This is Black Lion Folly. It’s in the courtyard of an old longhouse just outside Rhydymwyn, in Flintshire. The main house used to be a coaching inn. The cottage itself is a converted brick farm building. It looks out over fields towards Moel Famau.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Three have a walk-in shower, one has a roll-top bath. All the beds are good quality. The main space is open plan, with a wood burner and underfloor heating. The dining table is big, seats twelve easily. French doors go out to the patio.
Outside there’s a hot tub that fits seven. The garden looks onto an orchard. There’s a secure shed for bikes or kit. Plenty of parking.
The location is quiet but not remote. There’s a shop and a pub about a mile away in the village. Mold is five minutes by car for bigger shops.
You’re right on the edge of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Good walking from the door. The Offa’s Dyke Path is close. Chester is about half an hour’s drive if you want the city or the races. The coast around Flint or Prestatyn is 20-25 minutes. Liverpool is 35 minutes if you fancy a day across the border. Snowdonia is further, maybe an hour and a quarter.
In terms of what’s here: all bedding and towels are included. There’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. You can bring one dog. There’s a cot and highchair if needed.
