It's called Birch. It's in Logie Coldstone in Aberdeenshire, up a track in the woods. It's an off-grid bothy. Detached, so it's just you out there.
It sleeps four, but it's all in one room. One bedroom area with a double bed, and then a mezzanine up a ladder with two singles. That ladder is steep, mind you. There's one bathroom with a shower.
It's off-grid, so it runs on solar power and collects rainwater. There's a wood-burning stove for heat and a gas hob for cooking. The lights and sockets work off the solar. You'll need to be a bit mindful with power, but it's fine if you're used to it. Bedding and towels are included.
You can bring two dogs. There's a garden area and parking right there.
The location is the main thing. You're right in the Cairngorms National Park. It's quiet, just trees and the odd deer outside. For a pub or a shop, you'd drive into the village or over to Aboyne.
You're about 20 minutes from the ski centre at the Lecht. For walking, Lochnagar is massive and close by. Crathes Castle and its gardens are about half an hour away. Balmoral is a similar distance. If you fish or ride horses, there are places nearby that can sort that out.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but remember it's an off-grid cabin in a forest, not a hotel.
