Lodge D
This is Lodge D. It's a detached, single-storey holiday lodge in Dinnet, Aberdeenshire. It's at the back of the Loch Kinord Hotel grounds, right on the edge of the Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve. You're in the Cairngorms National Park here.
It sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring one dog.
The lodge is open plan inside. You've got a TV, wifi, a dishwasher, and bedding and towels are provided. There's parking right outside. There's a barbecue and you can store bikes.
The main thing is the location. You walk out the back and you're straight onto the nature reserve paths. It's quiet. You'll see red squirrels and lots of birds. The Burn-o-Vat is a short walk away. It's a big, round hollow in the granite with a waterfall. You can walk in through a gap in the rock. It's worth seeing.
You can use the hotel next door. They have a restaurant and a bar. It's handy if you don't want to cook.
Ballater is about a fifteen minute drive. It's a nice village with shops and places to eat. Aberdeen is under an hour away if you need a city. For skiing, the Lecht and Glenshee are within a thirty minute drive. There's local fishing, golf, and horse riding too.
