Trough Cottage is on our farm in Holme. It's up a cobbled drive that's a bit bumpy but fine for normal cars. You're in the middle of a working farm, so you'll see sheep. And the view from the garden over the valley is very good.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One toilet is on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and warm but don't expect anything fancy. There are board games and books on the shelf.
The cottage stands on its own, but it's attached to Mount View Cottage next door. They're separate, but for bigger groups you can open a door on the ground floor to connect them.
You can bring one dog. The garden is yours, it's walled. There's parking right outside and an electric car charger. Wifi works. It's fine for streaming.
Holmfirth is about three miles away. That's where you'll find shops, pubs, and cafes. It's the Last of the Summer Wine place. The Holmfirth Picturedrome has live music.
For walking, you're right on the edge of the Peak District. The Pennine Way crosses the moors above. For cyclists, Holme Moss is the famous climb, it starts in the village. You can be on a proper footpath in minutes.
Within half an hour you can get to Marsden for the canal and tunnels, or up to Halifax. Huddersfield is about ten miles for bigger shops.
