The Bing
The Bing is a cottage in Poundsgate on Dartmoor. It's one half of an old Devon longhouse. We live next door in the other half. It's a 4 Star property, which means it's been done up well but it's still a cottage.
It sleeps up to four people. There's one double bedroom upstairs and a double sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom is upstairs too, and it has both a bath and a separate shower.
The kitchen has a dishwasher. There's WiFi and a TV. Parking is on the lane right outside. Because it's thatched, the ceilings are quite low upstairs in the bedroom. The stairs are typical cottage stairs. There's a stairgate fitted.
You can have up to two dogs. There are fields directly accessible from the parking area where you can walk them.
The local pub is about a quarter of a mile away. For a shop or a cafe, Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a few minutes' drive. It's a proper Dartmoor village.
You're right on the moor. You can walk straight out onto it. Hay Tor and Hound Tor are close. Dartmeet is a short drive. For planning walks, the Dartmoor National Park Authority site is useful.
If you want a day out, Buckfast Abbey and the River Dart Country Park are about half an hour away by car. The coast at Teignmouth or Dawlish is around 40 minutes. Exeter and Plymouth are both under an hour's drive.
