Chesil Vista

The main thing about it is the view. It's up on the hill, so you look right out over the sea and Chesil Beach. You're right in the village, so shops, pubs, and cafes are a short walk away. Chesil Beach is about a fifteen minute walk downhill. For a proper coastal walk, the path out to Portland Bill lighthouse is good. You can get information on that from the Jurassic Coast Trust site.
Within about half an hour's drive you've got Weymouth, the ruins at Portland Castle, and Abbotsbury with its swannery and subtropical gardens. Dorchester is about the same distance. Further along the coast, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are worth the trip.
