Elizabethan House

This is Elizabethan House. It's in Fortuneswell on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. It's a 17th century place, Grade II listed. You're basically 500 yards from Chesil Beach, which is a very long stretch of shingle. The National Sailing Academy is a short walk away.

It sleeps seven. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been refurbished but they kept the character bits: exposed stone walls, wooden beams, stripped floors. It feels old, but not draughty.

There are two small courtyard gardens, one at the front and one at the back. They're enclosed. Good for a cup of tea or a glass of wine after being out.

Now, the stairs. They're in the original part of the house. They're narrow and steep. There's a handrail. Just take your time.

You're right on Portland Harbour, which is where they held the Olympic sailing in 2012. The water is good for small boats. Chesil Beach is right there for walks. The sea can be loud if the wind's in the right direction.

There are pubs, restaurants, and takeaways you can walk to in Fortuneswell. For a bigger town, Weymouth is about a 15 minute drive. That's your classic seaside place: sand, donkeys, Punch and Judy, shops, and the Sea Life Park.

What's here: Wifi, washing machine, dishwasher. There's a woodburning stove for colder nights. Parking is on the road outside. You can bring up to two dogs.
