Lime Lodge

Lime Lodge is near Rhayader, just outside a tiny place called Nant Glas. It's a new build, detached. The whole place is properly designed for wheelchair access, inside and out. Things like lower worktops, level thresholds, wide doorways. It's all been thought about.

It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. Every bedroom has its own en-suite, which is handy. Two of those have baths as well as showers. The living area is open plan, with a wood burner. There's underfloor heating too, and thermostats on the radiators.

Outside, there's a deck that goes all around. It's flush with the doors. That leads to the hot tub and a seating area. The garden is lawned and there's a ramp down to it.

We keep some portable aids there, like a hoist, a shower wheelchair, and grab rails. They're in a cupboard if you need them.

It's a rural spot. The nearest pub that does food is about six miles away in Llanyre. For a proper supermarket, you'd go to Llandrindod Wells, which is about seven or eight miles.

The main reason to be here is the outdoors. You're a ten minute drive from the Elan Valley reservoirs. The roads and trails there are great for cycling or a drive. The red kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm, near Rhayader, is worth a visit to see hundreds of them.

You're on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains, and the Brecon Beacons aren't far. For walking, the Brecon Beacons National Park site has good route ideas. If you're into mountain biking, the Elan Valley Trust has maps for the trails there.

Further afield, within about half an hour, you've got Builth Wells for the Royal Welsh showground, or Hay-on-Wye for the books. Knighton is the other way, for the Offa's Dyke path.

Facilities wise: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. On site parking. We can take up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if needed.

Oh, and there's another lodge next door called Hawthorn Lodge. They can be booked together if you've got a bigger group.
