Hawthorn Lodge is in Nant Glas, which is in the middle of Wales. It's a detached, modern lodge. It's peaceful and the views are of fields and hills.
The place sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and, usefully, four bathrooms, one for each bedroom. Everything is on one level, with no steps inside. The doors are wide, the light switches are low, and the worktops in the kitchen are a comfortable height for a wheelchair user. We’ve kept a shower wheelchair and a shower stool there if you need them.
The main living area is open plan. The wood burner is lovely when it's cold. The whole place has underfloor heating, with separate thermostats in each room so everyone can be comfortable.
Outside, there's a deck that's level with the house doors. It leads to a seating area and a private hot tub. There's a ramp down to the lawn as well.
The nearest pub that does food is about six miles away in Penybont. Llandrindod Wells is about seven and a half miles east. It's a small town with shops, a supermarket, and a few places to eat.
You're well placed here for getting out. The Elan Valley is about a twenty minute drive. It's stunning, with reservoirs and dams. The Brecon Beacons National Park is to the south, about half an hour away. Rhayader is close, maybe ten minutes, and has the Red Kite feeding centre. For a day out, Hay-on-Wye is just under an hour’s drive.
As for facilities, it's all included. Bedding, towels, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking. We allow two well-behaved dogs. There's a highchair in the cupboard.
