Magpie
Magpie is a one-bedroom barn conversion in Llanafan fawr. It's one of a few cottages here on the same site. It’s for four people, but it’s just the one bedroom, so it might be better for a couple or a small family.
It’s got two bathrooms though, which is handy. The rating is 3 Star, so it’s comfortable and clean.
It’s properly rural. You’re eight miles from Builth Wells, the nearest proper town for shops. The local pub is the same distance. You’ll need to drive for most things.
On site, there’s a lot to do without going anywhere. There’s a shared indoor swimming pool and a games room with a console. Outside, there’s a fishing lake, a mini golf course, and a kids' play area. The place is known for red kites, you’ll see them overhead.
Inside, it’s open plan. You’ve got a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot if you need it. Parking is right outside.
If you want to explore, you're in the middle of Wales. The Elan Valley is about a half hour drive west. The National Trust for Scotland looks after it and it’s good for walking and seeing the dams. To the north, the whole of Snowdonia is within reach for a day trip.
