Conker is a glamping pod in Llanafan Fawr, up in the hills in Mid Wales. It's off-grid, so there's no mains electricity or water. You get a battery pack for lighting and charging phones, and a gas bottle for the cooker. The water is from a spring.
It sleeps two in one room. There's a bathroom with a proper flushing toilet and a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is good for a glamping place. The pod is well insulated and has a heating system, so it's warm even in winter.
You're really out on your own up here. It's quiet. You'll see red kites. There's a fire pit outside with a grill, and they provide wood and kindling. There's also a wood-fired pizza oven if you fancy that.
The nearest shop and pub are about three miles away in Builth Wells. That's your closest town for groceries, fuel, and a few places to eat. Elan Valley is a 30 minute drive for walking and reservoirs. You can get to the coast, like Aberystwyth, in about an hour.
Because it's off-grid, things work a bit differently. The lights run off the battery, so be mindful with them. The fridge is gas. The hot water comes from a gas boiler. It all works fine, you just need to remember to top up the water tank from the outside tap now and then. It becomes routine.
One well-behaved dog is welcome. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right by the pod.
