This is Conker. It’s an off-grid glamping pod in the hills near Llanafan fawr, in Mid Wales. It’s for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom.
It's a place to switch off. There’s no Wi-Fi, and mobile signal is very patchy. You get a Bluetooth speaker for music, and there are electric points for charging things if you need them. The lights are battery-powered. It's high up, so the views are pretty great.
The pod itself is small and clever. It’s well insulated and has a good air heating system, so it's cosy even in winter. There’s a little kitchen area with what you need for basic meals. We’ve also put in a wood-fired pizza oven outside. You get bed linen and towels.
There’s a fire pit outside with seating. We provide wood and kindling for when you arrive. It’s a good spot for watching the red kites.
It’s very quiet up here. You’ll hear birds and the wind. That’s mostly it.
You can bring one dog. The parking is right next to the pod.
For days out, Builth Wells is about 15 minutes by car. They’ve got shops and a few places to eat. The Elan Valley reservoirs are half an hour away, good for walking. Aberystwyth and the coast is about a 45 minute drive if you fancy the sea.
