Gorsddu

Gorsddu is in Llanwrthwl, just south of Rhayader in Powys. It's a detached house, out on its own, with views to the east over the Cambrian Mountains.

It sleeps seven people. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating. The renovation was done by the family using oak from the land. The stairs are quite steep, typical for an old place.

It's very peaceful. You can often hear a cuckoo here between April and June.

There's a big sun room with large windows facing the view. It's a good spot to sit with a pair of binoculars. We have a lockable shed outside that holds up to seven bikes. It also works as a drying room.

The nearest shop, a garage with a cafe, is about two miles away. Rhayader is six miles. It's a small town with shops, places to eat, and pubs. They call it the canoeing capital of Europe. The National Trust Abergwesyn Common is close by for walking. There's a local walk that starts at the church.

The Élan Valley dams and reservoirs are nearby for walking and cycling. The RSPB reserve at Carngafallt is to the north west, good for red kites and old oak woods.

Within about half an hour you can get to Llandrindod Wells or Builth Wells, which are market towns. Llanwrtyd Wells, the small town that does the bog snorkelling event, is also within that drive.

For facilities: there's a wood burning stove, a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. The garden is enclosed. We allow up to two dogs. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.
