Glan Wye is a converted barn on our farm just outside Rhayader. It's detached, so it's just you and the view. That view is over the town and straight up the Elan Valley towards the reservoirs. It's very quiet.
It sleeps six in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not luxurious. The Wi-Fi is fine for basic stuff.
You're welcome to walk on the farm's footpaths. Bring binoculars if you have them. You might see red kites from the garden. In spring, you can hear the cuckoo.
Rhayader town is about a twenty minute walk down the lane. It's small but it has what you need, a few shops, a couple of pubs that do food, and a leisure centre with a pool. It's the main town for this part of the Wye Valley.
The big thing here is the outdoors. The Elan Valley is about ten minutes' drive. It's all Victorian reservoirs and dams. There are miles of good tracks for walking and cycling, some on the old railway line. The Elan Valley Trust website has maps and details of events. For fishing, you need a permit from the Rhayader Angling Club.
If you want to explore further, Aberystwyth is about 40 minutes away on the coast. The steam train from Devil's Bridge is about half an hour's drive. The Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells is 20 minutes away, but check what's on. For a wider idea of the area, Visit Wales has good information on Powys.
At the barn, there's parking right outside, including an electric vehicle charger. The garden has a patio and a BBQ. Inside, there's a wood burner, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a TV. Bedding is included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, sorry.
