Cuckoo Hill Lodge is on our land, just outside St Harmon. It's a single-storey lodge, so everything's on the ground floor. Detached, so it's just you and the garden.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which helps when you've got a few people. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.
The main room is open plan. Kitchen at one end, sofas at the other, with a wood burner in the middle. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The garden is enclosed and private, with a patio and a hot tub.
Because it's all on one level and has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, it suits people who struggle with stairs. There's parking right outside.
You're allowed up to two dogs. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi and a TV.
The location is quiet. You're looking out at fields and hills. The nearest shop and a place to eat are about two and a half miles away in St Harmon. There's a pub three miles away in Pantydwr.
For things to do, the Elan Valley is the big one. It's about a fifteen minute drive. The reservoirs and dams are impressive, and the roads are great for cycling or motorbikes. Rhayader is close by too, a small town with cafés and shops.
The Red Kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm is near Rhayader. You can watch hundreds of kites come down to feed. Gilfach Nature Reserve is also worth a walk, especially along the river.
Builth Wells is about twenty minutes away. That's where the Royal Welsh Showground is. Llandrindod Wells is a bit further, maybe twenty-five minutes. It's a spa town with a golf course.
The Brecon Beacons are further out, more like a forty-five minute drive. That's for a bigger day out, walking up Pen y Fan or something similar.
