Cuckoo Hill Lodge is near St Harmon in Mid Wales. It's a detached lodge, all on one level. That means no stairs to worry about.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which is handy. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s comfortable and well-kept.
The main room is open plan, with a kitchen, living and dining area. There’s a wood burner for chilly evenings. The garden is private and enclosed. There’s a hot tub out there.
You can bring up to two dogs.
The location is very rural. You’re in the middle of rolling hills. The nearest shop and restaurant is about two and a half miles away. The closest pub is three miles.
Right, things to do. The Elan Valley is the big one. It's about a 15 minute drive. The scenery is stunning, with reservoirs, dams and forests. Great for walking or cycling. The Red Kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm is nearby. You can watch them feed the kites. Rhayader, the local town, is a few miles away. It has shops, cafes and a few places to eat.
A bit further out, Builth Wells is about nine miles. That’s where the Royal Welsh Showground is. Llandrindod Wells, a spa town, is about 12 miles away. It has a golf course and parks.
If you fancy a full day out, the Brecon Beacons National Park is around 35 miles, so maybe 45 minutes by car. Pen y Fan is there if you want a proper mountain walk.
Facilities wise, it’s got what you’d expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair if needed. Parking is on site.
