Maen Llwyd

This is Maen Llwyd, on the edge of Llanyre. It's a detached house in grey stone. The name means 'grey stone', after the one in the garden. We live next door in the other cottage.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well-finished and everything works. It's got underfloor heating from an air source heat pump, so it's always warm. There's also a wood burner in the living room if you fancy a fire.

The garden is fully enclosed and quite big. There's a private driveway for parking. The kitchen is modern and a good size for cooking together.

The local pub is about 50 yards away. They do food using local stuff. There's a shop about a mile and a half away in Llandrindod Wells. The village has a park and a cycle path right by the house.

Llandrindod Wells is the nearest town. It's a Victorian spa place. They do a Dickensian festival in August. From here, you're well-placed for a lot of Mid Wales.

The Elan Valley and its dams are about a 20 minute drive. It's spectacular for walking. The Brecon Beacons National Park is about half an hour south. Rhayader is 15 minutes away; they have a red kite feeding station. Builth Wells has the Royal Welsh Showground. Hay-on-Wye, the book town, is about 40 minutes drive.

We've got a private studio gym next door that guests can use by arrangement. The house is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor.
