Maen Llwyd is our cottage in Llanyre, just outside Llandrindod Wells. It's a detached house, grey stone, with its own drive. We live next door in the other cottage.
It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well looked after and comfortable. The kitchen is big and modern, good for cooking together. The main living room has a wood burner, but there's underfloor heating from an air source heat pump, so it's always warm.
The garden is fully enclosed and quite big. There's an old grey stone in it, which is what the name means.
There's a pub about 50 yards away. It does food. The village shop is in Llandrindod Wells, about a mile and a half. You can get supermarket deliveries here too.
Location is the main thing. You're right between a lot of places. The Elan Valley is about a 20 minute drive. It's stunning for walks. The Brecon Beacons National Park is maybe 25 minutes south. Rhayader is close, you can see the red kites there. Hay-on-Wye is about 40 minutes. Builth Wells is 20 minutes for the showground.
In terms of stuff here: it has WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. We allow one dog. There's parking on the drive, including an electric vehicle charger. We have a small private gym in a separate building that guests can use if they ask first.
A couple of things to note plainly. The garden is enclosed but not completely square, there's a sloping bit. The property is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor.
