Woodside Lodge is on our working farm near Penyfont, in Powys. It's a detached house, so you're on your own, which is nice. You get the garden and patio to yourselves as well.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable and clean, not a show home. Everything works.
The best thing is the hot tub. It's on the deck. You get a good view over the fields from there.
There's a pub about a mile and a half away. The nearest proper shop is in Llandrindod Wells, that's about three miles. It's a nice old spa town. Rhayader is close too, about five miles. They have the red kite feeding station there, which is worth seeing.
If you like walking, you're in a good spot. You're near Glyndwr's Way and Offa's Dyke. For fishing, there's a river on the farm for a casual go, but the main attraction is the Elan Valley reservoirs. They're stunning. That's about a 20-minute drive. Elan Valley Trust has all the information.
You can be at the coast in Cardigan Bay in about an hour and a half if you fancy a day out. Hay-on-Wye is a bit closer, maybe 40 minutes. That's the book town.
In terms of what's here: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and we include the bedding. A cot and highchair are here if you need them. You can bring one dog.
For planning days out, the Visit Mid Wales site is useful, and the National Trust Wales page covers some local places like Powis Castle.
