Rowan Cottage is a farm cottage about ten minutes outside Inverness. It's one of three in a row, built in the 19th century. It's surrounded by fields and woods. Highland cows often wander past.
It sleeps four, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It has a 3 Star rating, which means it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious. Everything is on the ground floor, which is handy.
The kitchen has what you'll need. The living room has an old stove from the 1950s. It works. There's a shared garden area with benches to sit on and look out at the fields.
You're less than a mile from the coast here. The nearest beach is pebbly. For sand, you drive to Nairn or over to Rosemarkie on the Black Isle. You can sometimes see dolphins from the shore.
Inverness is close for shops and things. Loch Ness is about ten minutes further west from there. If you follow that road, you're heading for the west coast and Skye. The NC500 route starts in Inverness if you want to explore north.
About forty minutes south is Aviemore and the Cairngorms. Good for walking or skiing. To the east, past Nairn, you have the Moray coast and the Speyside whisky distilleries.
The facilities include a washing machine, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are provided. We have a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
There's fly fishing on nearby rivers. The Castle Stuart golf links is a few hundred yards away.
