The Shore is in Fortrose, on the Black Isle. It's right by the water. You can see the Moray Firth from the windows.
It's a stone-built cottage that's been modernised inside. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating which reflects the standard. It's comfortable, not old-fashioned. There's on-site parking.
The main thing is the location. You're a few steps from a pebble beach. People often see dolphins from the cottage itself, but the best spot is Chanonry Point, which is a short walk along the coast. There's an old golf course on the spit of land there.
The village centre is a five-minute walk up a little footpath. There's a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a good cafe-deli called IV10. The cathedral ruins are worth a look.
In the other direction, about a quarter of a mile along the coast, is Rosemarkie. It has a long sandy beach and a waterfall at the Fairy Glen. The Groam House Museum there is interesting if you like local history.
For days out, Inverness is about twenty minutes by car. The Cairngorms National Park is under an hour. If you want to walk up a Munro, there are trailheads within a thirty-minute drive.
Inside, it has things like a washing machine, dishwasher, and a woodburning stove. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot available. The entrance and the ground floor are wheelchair accessible.
