Gorse Lodge is in Rosemarkie. It's a wooden cabin-style place, detached, up a bit of a slope in the trees. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-kept.
Inside, it's all open-plan. The living room, kitchen, and dining area are one big space which makes it feel roomy. There are patio doors out to your own enclosed garden. You can sit out there and look over the fields towards the sea. The stairs go up to the bedrooms. They're normal stairs, not a ladder or anything.
You can see Chanonry Point from the garden. That's the spit of land in the bay. It's famous for dolphins. People go down there to watch them, especially on a rising tide. You'll see buzzards around the lodge, and there are deer in the woods. The owner lives on the site and is about if you need anything or want tips on walks.
Rosemarkie village is about three miles away. It's got a good beach, a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a cafe. Fortrose is just next to it. The beach at Rosemarkie is pebbly and sand. For a bigger sandy beach, you can drive to Nigg Bay, which is about 25 minutes.
If you want to go further, Inverness is about half an hour north. You've got the castle and the shops there. To the south, the Black Isle has some nice coastal drives. The whole area is good for cycling and walking. There's a lot of history around here too.
Facilities: it's got parking right next to it. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. You can bring up to two dogs. It's part of a small group of lodges on a farm, so it's quiet but not completely isolated.
