Chanonry View Holiday Cottage

Chanonry View is a detached cottage up on the hill above Fortrose. The main thing is the view. You look right out over the Inner Moray Firth to the mountains. You don't really get tired of it.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles. The main one has an en-suite shower room, and there's a second bathroom with a walk-in shower too. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well kept and comfortable. Everything works.

The road up to it is quite steep. The garden isn't huge, but it's enclosed and private. We get pine martens visiting sometimes. You might see owls. The patio lets you sit outside with the view.

Fortrose is a short walk downhill. There's a shop, a couple of cafes, a bakery, and places to eat. The cathedral ruins are there. The golf course is right by the sea. The real highlight is Chanonry Point, which is a walk along from the village. That's where you go to see dolphins from the shore. It's probably the best spot for it in the country.

Next along is Rosemarkie, which has a long, sandy beach that leads to the lighthouse. You can do a nice loop from here: walk down to Fortrose, along to the point, up the beach to Rosemarkie, and back.

In terms of facilities, it's got what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, wifi. Parking for one car on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.

For a day out, Inverness is about half an hour's drive. There's also the National Trust for Scotland's Ardross estate nearby. If you're interested in the local area, the Highland Council website has good visitor information.
