Garden Cottage Wheddon Cross

Garden Cottage is at Triscombe Farm, just outside Wheddon Cross on Exmoor. It’s part of a group of converted farm buildings. The land here is good, very green, with a stream running through it. We’re in a valley, so you get a bit of shelter.

The cottage itself sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and well looked after. It’s one of the ‘upside down’ ones, which means the living area is upstairs. That’s so you get the views over the farmland from the main room. The kitchen and dining bit is on the ground floor. The stairs are standard cottage stairs, so just take care.

On site, there’s an indoor heated swimming pool you can book slots for. There’s also a shared games room with table tennis and that sort of thing. We provide bedding. There’s parking right outside the cottage, and you have your own patio area with a barbecue.

A mile down the lane in Wheddon Cross there’s a shop, a garage, and a pub that does food. That’s your nearest. For a bigger shop, you’d go to Minehead or Dulverton.

You’re right in the Exmoor National Park here. You can walk straight out from the farm. Dunkery Beacon is the highest point, the views from there are very wide. The coast is about half an hour’s drive north. The cliffs there are high, and the coastal path is dramatic. Pretty villages like Dunster are close by. The West Somerset Railway runs steam trains from Minehead.
