Little Coombe
Little Coombe is my bungalow just outside Okehampton. It's detached. The main thing is it's all on one level, so there are no stairs at all. It's just you and the fields out the back.
It’s for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. The bed is a zip and link, so it can be two singles if you want. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and warm, with everything you need. There's a washing machine, a Smart TV, WiFi, and your own parking space. Bedding and towels are included.
The patio gets the sun in the morning. It's quiet. You get birds and sheep, not traffic.
The shop and the nearest pub are about three and a half miles away in Okehampton. That's where you'll find everything. It's a proper market town on the edge of Dartmoor. You can walk to the moor from there, or drive up in a few minutes.
Okehampton Castle is worth a look if you like ruins. The Tarka Trail is good for a flat walk or a bike ride. For a dramatic walk, Lydford Gorge is about a 20-minute drive. The village of Belstone is close and has nice views over the moor.
If you fancy the coast, Woolacombe and Sandymouth beaches are about 45 minutes in the car. RHS Garden Rosemoor is near Great Torrington. Castle Drogo is about half an hour away. Bideford is 35 minutes, and from there you can get the boat to Lundy Island.
