The Shippon

The Shippon is a converted stone barn on a farm in Warleggan, up on Bodmin Moor. It's part of a small group with two other cottages, all set back from the road behind the main farmhouse. You do share the wider land with other guests.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star. It's been done up well inside, comfortable but still feels like an old building. The ceilings are low in places, and there are steps up to the front door.

You get your own patio area with furniture. There's 15 acres of farmland to walk around, with a river and woods. I should mention there are two unfenced ponds on the drive in, so you'll need to keep an eye on kids and dogs. The land is a bit rough in parts, proper boots are a good idea.

The shop and the nearest pub are about three miles away in the village. It's remote. You'll hear sheep.

For things to do: you're on the edge of the moor for walking. Cardinham Woods is good for a gentler stroll or a bike ride, and the Camel Trail at Bodmin is a flat, traffic-free path. The Lanhydrock estate is about a 20-minute drive. The Eden Project is maybe half an hour. The coast at Fowey is about 40 minutes by car.

In terms of what's there: woodburner, TV, wifi, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. We can provide a cot and highchair.
