The Haymakers is one of the cottages on our farm. You'll see us going about the place. It sits back from the main road, so it's quiet.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom. One is a wet room on the ground floor. The doorways are wide and there's no step at the front door, so it works if you have a wheelchair user or someone with limited mobility. The kitchen is open plan with the living area. There's a wood burner. Heating is from a ground source heat pump, so it's efficient, but the wood burner is there if you want the atmosphere.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's an enclosed garden at the back. We have about two miles of grass tracks around the farm fields. You're welcome to walk those with your dog. There's also a shed if you need to store bikes.
The farm is just outside Linlithgow. It's about a three mile drive into the town centre. There's a pub at the end of the lane, maybe five minutes walk. It's a proper local. Linlithgow has more choices for food and a good supermarket.
Being close to Junction 3 of the M9 is handy. Edinburgh airport is about 15 minutes drive. Linlithgow train station is a mile away. Trains to Edinburgh take about 15 minutes, to Glasgow about 25.
For things to do, Linlithgow Palace is the big one in town. It's a ruin, but a good one. Hopetoun House is nearby and very grand. You can be in Edinburgh city centre in half an hour. Stirling Castle is about 40 minutes west. The coast at South Queensferry, with the bridges, is about 20 minutes north. If you want a proper beach day, you'd drive over the Forth Road Bridge into Fife.
Facilities: There's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are provided. We have a cot and highchair. There's an electric vehicle charging point. Parking is right outside.
