Skipton is 15 minutes by car. That's where you'll find the big supermarkets, the castle, and the market. The leisure centre there has pools and tennis. Skipton Castle is worth a visit.
For walks, Bolton Abbey and the Strid are about 20 minutes drive. Grassington, in the Yorkshire Dales, is about half an hour. Yorkshire Dales National Park has all the route information.
