The Joiners Rest is on a smallholding near Lymbridge Green in Kent. It's a new build, made of wood and concrete inside. It feels modern and clean.
It sleeps four. There's a king-size bed on the ground floor and two singles up on a mezzanine, which kids would love. The stairs to the mezzanine are a ship's ladder style, so they're quite steep and open.
You get the place to yourselves, but the gardens are shared with one other cottage. You have your own patio with a table and a private hot tub. From May to September, there's a shared swimming pool and a games room with a pool table in another building.
There are chickens wandering about. You'll likely get some eggs in your welcome pack.
Inside, there's underfloor heating and a wood burner. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
You can walk straight out into the countryside. The North Downs Way is accessible from here. There are a couple of good pubs about two miles away in the villages.
You're well placed for day trips. Canterbury is about a 20-minute drive. The coast at Hythe or Folkestone is about 25 minutes. For wider planning, the National Trust and Explore Kent sites are useful.
