St Francis Cottage

St Francis Cottage is in Ulpha, in the Duddon Valley. It's a detached stone cottage. The location is very quiet, you're just surrounded by fields and hills. It's a proper get-away-from-it-all spot.

The cottage sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place. It's comfortable and well looked after, but it's still a cottage, not a hotel. The rooms are cosy.

There's a wood burner in the big fireplace, which is good for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. You can get two pets in.

For supplies, the nearest shop is about a mile away in Broughton Mills. The closest pub, the Newfield Inn, is two miles. They do food.

A footpath runs right past the side of the cottage. You can walk from the door for miles without seeing a road. It's good walking country. Coniston Water is about a 20 minute drive. For a day out, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is great, especially with kids. Muncaster Castle is nearby too.

If you're planning trips, the Lake District National Park website is useful. Things like Hardknott Roman Fort are within half an hour, but the roads up to it are very steep and narrow.

Facilities are all there: WiFi, parking, bedding and towels are included. The garden has outdoor furniture.
