Deer Close is a shepherd's hut near Lady Hall in Cumbria. It's just for two people. One room, one bathroom.
It's built mostly from recycled or reclaimed stuff. The shower runs on rainwater. There's a composting toilet and the power comes from solar panels. So it's very much off-grid.
Inside it's compact. There's a gas hob, a small fridge, and a sink. You can also heat things up on top of the log burner if you need to.
The hut sits in the woods. You'll see deer and other wildlife. The view looks out over the Duddon Estuary. It's a good spot.
Outside, there's a wood-burning hot tub.
You can bring one dog.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean and has what you need, but it's basic. The off-grid systems are part of that. You're here for the setting, not for luxury.
For getting out, the Cumbrian Coastal Way runs past the bottom of the hill. Coniston Water and Windermere are about half an hour's drive. You can go on the lakes or just walk around them.
The nearest towns are Millom, Broughton-in-Furness and Ulverston. They've got shops and pubs. There's a local pub within walking distance too.
Facilities are listed on the site, but bedding and towels are included. There's parking. It says romantic setting and glamping, which is fair.
It's one of a few properties here. They can be booked together for a bigger group.
