The Byres Tarset

The Byres is on our farm in Tarset. It's a detached stone building we converted about ten years ago from the old dairy. You're on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe some cattle. It's quiet up here, and the views are good.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's underfloor heating downstairs.

The living area is all open-plan downstairs. The kitchen's at one end. The stairs go up to a mezzanine level, which is basically a small extra sitting area with a sofa. The ceiling is vaulted up there, and there are big windows. On a clear night, you can see a lot of stars. It's not a full second living room, just a quiet spot.

You're in the Northumberland National Park. It's very dark skies here. For walking, you're right on the edge of it. Kielder Water and Forest is about a twenty-minute drive. The Northumberland National Park site has walking routes.

Bellingham is the nearest village, about ten minutes by car. It's got a couple of pubs, a butcher, a Co-op. Hexham is about forty minutes south, that's a proper market town. The coast, like Bamburgh, is just under an hour's drive. The National Trust looks after a lot of the castles up there.

For the facilities, we've listed everything. There's WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and an electric vehicle charger. You can bring one dog. There's parking right outside.
