The Byres

The Byres is on our farm in Tarset. It used to be the cattle shed, but we've done it up. It's detached, so it's just you. You get good views over the fields.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.

Because it's an old building, the ceilings upstairs are quite high and there's a mezzanine level with some extra seats. It's a good spot to sit at night if you're interested in the stars. There's hardly any light pollution here.

You're right in the Northumberland National Park. The quiet road from Bellingham to Kielder goes past, so it's easy to get to but still feels remote. You'll see us going about the farm work sometimes.

Kielder Water and Forest is about a twenty minute drive. You can walk, cycle, or go on the water there. The National Trust looks after a lot of the big houses and coastline in Northumberland, like Wallington and Cragside. They're within half an hour to forty minutes. Hexham is about forty minutes for shops. The coast, like Alnmouth or Bamburgh, is just over an hour.

For facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking. We have a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's an electric vehicle charger.

This place can be booked along with The Stable and The Hemmel if you've got a bigger group.
