This is Ferny Rigg Byre, near Falstone in Northumberland. It's on our working farm. We did it up properly in 2020.
It's a one bedroom place, sleeps two. It's open plan downstairs, with the kitchen, living area and a wood burner. The bedroom is upstairs and has an en-suite shower. The bed has a kingsize alpaca duvet. We raise the alpacas here on the farm.
The views from the windows are just fields and trees. It's very quiet. You'll often get fresh eggs from our hens.
You're right in the Northumberland National Park and the Dark Sky Park. If you like fishing, you've got about three quarters of a mile of single bank fishing on the North Tyne river included.
Kielder Water is about a 15 minute drive. You can do all sorts there: sailing, kayaking, mountain biking on the trails, or just walking. The observatory at Kielder is worth a visit, you don't need to know about stars to enjoy it. Hadrian's Wall is about a 30 minute drive for the Roman forts. The Northumberland coast, like Bamburgh, is an hour or so.
Facilities: it's all on one level except the bedroom stairs. There's parking right outside, an electric vehicle charger, a washing machine and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. The garden is enclosed. The WiFi works fine. It's wheelchair accessible into the property.
The local pub in Falstone is a mile away, it's friendly and does food. The nearest proper shop is about 10 miles away in Bellingham, so come prepared.
