Railway Cuttings
Railway Cuttings is a bungalow in Falstone, Northumberland. It's a stone-built house, semi-detached. It was part of the old railway station here. The line's gone now but you can still see where it was.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one double and one with twin beds. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. The whole place is on one floor and there's underfloor heating, which is good in the winter. The kitchen has what you need. It's all fairly modern inside.
The garden looks south over the River North Tyne and the hills. It's quiet.
There's a pub about a five minute walk away. They do real ale and food. Opposite it there's a little tea room that also works as the village shop.
You're right in the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. On a clear night, you can see the stars properly. No street lights. The Kielder Observatory is up the road if you want to book a session.
Kielder Water is the big local attraction. It's a huge reservoir. You can walk or cycle the trails around it, or go sailing. At Leaplish there's a swimming pool and spa, and another pub and restaurant.
Bellingham is about nine miles away for a bank, post office, and shops. Hexham is further, about 25 miles. The Northumberland coast, like Craster or Bamburgh, is a good day out and is under an hour's drive.
Facilities wise: it's all on the ground floor, wheelchair accessible. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring two dogs.
It can be booked next door with the other cottage if you're a larger group.
