The Left Luggage Office is in Falstone, up in Northumberland. It's an apartment for two, on one level, built into what used to be Falstone Station. The railway theme is there, but it's mostly in the name.
The place has one double bedroom and a shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well done. There's underfloor heating, which is good because it can get cold here. It's all wheelchair accessible from the outside.
The main thing is the sky. There's no streetlights. On a clear night, you can see thousands of stars, and sometimes the Milky Way is just there. If you've never seen it, it's quite something. You might see the Northern Lights if you're lucky. The whole area is a Dark Sky Park. The Kielder Observatory is nearby if you want to use their telescopes.
Outside, there's a private, enclosed patio. It's a good spot when the midges aren't about.
You're right on the edge of Kielder Forest and Kielder Water. It's a huge area for walking or mountain biking. You can get a ferry on the lake. The village has a shop and a pub about five minutes' walk away.
Inside, there's a TV, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. We accept up to two dogs. The place is decorated for Christmas if you're staying over that period.
For planning, the Northumberland National Park site is useful, and Visit Kielder has activity details. It's a quiet part of the world.
