Curlew Cottage

This is Curlew Cottage. It's a converted barn on our beef and sheep farm, just outside Bellingham. You get good views over the fields towards the National Park.

It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. Two bathrooms, one is a wet room. It's got a 4 Star rating. We renovated it a few years ago and tried to make it comfortable, not flashy. Each bedroom has its own TV. There's a multi-fuel stove in the living room.

The main thing is the shared facilities. There's an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub in the garden of the farmhouse next door. They're for guests to use. You'll need to bring towels for the pool.

We're a working farm. The footpath for the Pennine Way cuts right across our land, so you can start a walk from the door. Hareshaw Linn waterfall is in Bellingham, about a mile away. If you're interested in fishing, I can arrange a session for two people on the family stretch of the river.

Bellingham has a couple of pubs, a shop, and a cafe. It's a small place but it has what you need. The golf course is there too.

For days out, Kielder Water and Forest Park is about a 20-minute drive. It's good for cycling, walking, and water sports. It's also an International Dark Sky Park, so the stargazing is excellent if the sky is clear. Visit Kielder has all the details.

Hexham is roughly half an hour by car. You can see Hexham Abbey and it's a good base for visiting bits of Hadrian's Wall, like The Sill centre. National Trust Hadrian's Wall covers a lot of it. The coast, like Alnmouth or Bamburgh, is over an hour's drive, but it's a nice trip if you fancy it.

Facilities here: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a BBQ. We can provide a cot and highchair. Bedding and towels for the cottage are included. No pets, sorry.
