Stable Cottage

Stable Cottage is on the edge of Wark village. It's a conversion from the old stables, so it's stone built and solid. There are two of these cottages next to each other, side by side. They’re in the garden of the main house, the Old Rectory. It’s quiet here, just fields and sky.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 3 Star rating. That means it’s comfortable and clean, but not flashy. It’s open plan downstairs with a wood burning stove. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine.

The garden is enclosed, which is handy. There’s parking right outside.

You’re on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. The Pennine Way is about a mile away if you want a proper walk. The area is a Dark Sky Park, so on a clear night you can see a lot of stars.

The local pub is about half a mile walk in the village. It does food. The nearest shops are in Bellingham, which is about five miles.

You can get to a lot from here. Hexham and Corbridge are about half an hour’s drive. Hadrian's Wall is the same. For castles, Alnwick and Bamburgh are within an hour. The coast at Bamburgh is good. If you want to go further, you can reach the Scottish borders or the edge of the Lake District in about an hour and a half.
