4 Swallowholm Cottage

4 Swallowholm Cottage is in Langthwaite, in Arkengarthdale. It's a small, two-up two-down stone cottage, right by the roadside in the valley. The view from the upstairs windows is across the river and up the dale. It doesn't get much traffic, so it's quiet, but you're not remote.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms downstairs, one double and one twin. The bathroom is also downstairs. The stairs go up to the living area, which is all open plan: kitchen, dining table, and seating by the wood burner. The ceiling is low up there, so mind your head if you're tall. The stove is good, it heats the place quickly.

Langthwaite has a pub, the Red Lion. It's a two-minute walk. They do food. Reeth is about four miles down the valley for more pubs, a shop, and a post office.

You're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. For walking, you can step out the door onto footpaths. The area is good for cycling too, if you don't mind hills. The Swale Trail from Reeth to Keld is mostly off-road. The Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in England, is about a 20-minute drive away up on the moor.

Richmond is about a 30-minute drive. It's a proper market town with a castle, a theatre, and shops. In the other direction, into Wensleydale, you've got Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle, also within half an hour.

The place has a 4 Star rating. It's got Wi-Fi, a TV, parking right outside, and all the bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
