Olive Barn
Olive Barn is near Creacombe, just outside Rackenford. It's a single-storey barn conversion, which means everything is on one level. That's good if stairs are a problem.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom has an en-suite with both a bath and a shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well-finished.
You're in the middle of a farm with about 200 acres of woodland. You'll see sheep around. Deer sometimes come through the fields. It's very quiet.
The main room is open plan. Kitchen, dining area, sofas. There's a wood burner, and we'll have it set ready for you to light. Outside, there's a wood-fired hot tub at the back. The front courtyard gets the sun in the morning.
There's parking for three cars on the gravel.
Rackenford village is a couple of miles away. It's got a pub and a small shop. For a bigger shop, South Molton or Tiverton are about 12 miles. Both have supermarkets.
You're right between the north and south coasts. North Devon, with surfing beaches like Saunton, is about 50 minutes. The south coast, like Sidmouth, is a similar time the other way.
Exmoor National Park is about a 20-minute drive. Good for walking. The area is good for dark skies, so on a clear night you can see the stars well.
For a day out, RHS Garden Rosemoor is popular and it's about half an hour away.
The facilities are all there: bedding, towels, WiFi, dishwasher, washing machine. There's a BBQ. No pets, I'm afraid.
