The Horse Gin

The Horse Gin is one of two cottages in a converted barn on our farm. It's in East Worlington, which is countryside about halfway between South Molton and Tiverton. The barn was done up in 2019, so it's modern inside but still looks the part with stone walls and beams. It's got underfloor heating and a wood burner.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy. The main living space is open plan and quite tall because of the barn roof. It feels light. The cottage looks south over fields towards Dartmoor. You can walk around our four acre grounds and there's a lake you can sit by.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a garden and a barbecue area for the cottage. Parking is right outside.

For basics, the village of Witheridge is about three minutes drive. They've got a shop and post office, a pub, and a cafe. A pizza van comes on Wednesdays and a fish and chip van on Fridays. Chulmleigh is ten minutes away and has a few more shops, pubs, and a good butcher.

There are some well thought of pubs nearby. The Grove Inn in King's Nympton does good food and is about twelve minutes away. The Stag Inn at Rackenford is old and about fourteen minutes. The Michelin-starred Masons Arms in Knowstone is about ten minutes drive, on the edge of Exmoor.

For days out, both Exmoor and Dartmoor are within half an hour for walking. The north Devon beaches like Saunton, Croyde, and Woolacombe are about forty minutes drive. Barnstaple is the main town around here, about half an hour away, with a cinema, theatre, and a museum.
