The Oak Stall is one of two cottages converted from a big stone barn on our farm. It was done in 2019, so everything works properly, but it still feels like an old barn inside. You've got the exposed stone and beams, oak floors, and a wood burner.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, which is handy. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well put together and comfortable. The main living space is open plan and quite tall because of the barn roof. It gets sunny and looks south over fields towards Dartmoor.
You're sharing the four-acre grounds with the other cottage. There's a landscaped lake with places to sit. We allow two dogs. The parking is right outside.
The local village, Witheridge, is about three minutes drive. It has a shop and a pub. A pizza van comes on Wednesdays and a fish and chip van on Fridays. For a proper meal, there are some good pubs nearby. The Grove Inn in King's Nympton is about twelve minutes away and does good food. The Stag Inn at Rackenford is old and about fifteen minutes. If you want something special, the Michelin-starred Masons Arms in Knowstone is ten minutes away, on the edge of Exmoor.
For days out, you're right between Dartmoor and Exmoor. The north coast beaches like Saunton, Croyde, and Woolacombe are about forty minutes drive. Tiverton and South Molton are the nearest bigger towns for supermarkets.
Inside, it's got underfloor heating, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
