The Sheiling Skye is in Totaig, which is a wee hamlet up a side road near Dunvegan. It’s a wooden lodge on our family croft, right next to Loch Dunvegan. You get your own bit of woodland to walk through down to a private pebble beach. It’s very quiet.
It sleeps two. One bedroom with a kingsize bed, and one shower room. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and clean. It’s a lodge, so it’s all on one level, which is handy.
You can see a lot from the windows. Dunvegan Castle is across the loch, and you get a view of the Coral Beach area and the Cuillin hills. The night sky here is very dark. You can often see the Northern Lights if the conditions are right.
You’ll see wildlife. Sea eagles are common, and we often spot seals and otters from the croft. Dolphins sometimes come into the loch.
There’s a wood burner for heat and atmosphere. The hot water and heating are electric. We leave you some logs to get started.
For walking, Neist Point lighthouse is nearby for the cliffs. Macleod’s Tables are inland if you fancy a proper hill. The Three Chimneys restaurant is about five minutes drive away if you want a special meal.
Facilities: there’s a dishwasher, TV, wifi, and parking right outside. All bedding and towels are included. We provide some toiletries from the Highland Soap Company. No pets, sorry.
